They uncover a more serious criminal in the process.

Benson saves April Troost from committing suicide, but feels responsible when Troost dies during the trial of the man she accuses of raping her and getting her pregnant. It isn't long before detectives learn that Barclay Pallister wasn't the only man April picked up in a bar who has no recollection of sleeping with her, and the squad realizes that Troost was no victim. Their search takes them from prospective parents looking to adopt her child to the men she drugged and accosted to the sperm center she used to work at, which ends up at the center of the case. This crossover continues on Law & Order S16E02 Flaw (II).

Benson is on her way out for the evening when a call comes in from a little girl who says she's all alone. While trying to draw the girl out, Benson is drawn deeper into the little girl's life, and although the other officers begin to suspect the whole thing may be some sick joke, Benson is convinced that the little girl is the real deal. By talking to Maria, Benson is able to ferret enough information from her so that they have a place to start, but Maria's captor has an affinity for electronics and has done everything he can to make sure that no one can find the little girl he bought and paid for.

Despite the interference of a local reporter, Jackson Zane, detectives are able to catch the kidnapper, a known pedophile, and recover the girl, but when Alvin Dutch dies and the autopsy determines it was Anthrax, Benson puts everything on the line so that she can get the truth out there.

A stray pubic hair leads Novak to Keith Willis, a drunk who was paid off by the boys to get Jennifer out of the hotel and who later saw the boys kidnap her, but Willis exactly fit to be a witness as his mind has gone after years of alcohol abuse. Jason King disappears. Although they are able to find a bug in Donnelly's office, they are not able to prove that it was placed there by Pratt or Waverly. Judge Donnelly is forced to dismiss the case against the two boys since there is no case without Jason's testimony.

During the course of the investigation, Benson and Stabler learn that Danielle's husband was sleeping with a friend of theirs, leading the squad to suspect first him, but their suspicion soon turns to the husband of the other woman.

Nachdem die Polizei endlich angefangen hat, alte Rape Kits aufzuarbeiten, stellt sich heraus, dass Sean zu Unrecht verurteilt wurde und nun aus dem Gefängnis entlassen wird. Melanie Harper, das damalige vermeintliche Opfer Seans, will Wiedergutmachung leisten und geht mit ihm und ihrer Tochter Ashley zusammen aus. Am nächsten Tag wird die Special Victims Unit zu den Harpers gerufen. Ashley wurde vergewaltigt und übel zugerichtet und erliegt später im Krankenhaus ihren Verletzungen. Es stellt sich heraus, dass der frisch entlassene Sean für die Tatzeit kein Alibi hat. Da er jedoch schon einmal zu Unrecht belangt wurde, wollen Benson und Barba vermeiden, ihn nochmal unschuldig vor Gericht zu stellen …

Laura Collett wird in einem Hotel mit einer Überdosis Diazepam und Alkohol im Blut aufgefunden. Sie hatte dort Sex mit einem Mann, den sie für Alden Kessler, den Leiter der Zulassungsstelle der Hudson University hielt. Vor Lieutenant Benson sagt Laura aus, dass sie nur widerwillig Sex mit dem Mann hatte, um ihrem Sohn einen Platz an der Hudson Universität zu verschaffen. Im Lauf der Ermittlungen stellt sich heraus, dass der vermeintliche Leiter der Zulassungsstelle in Wahrheit der Sicherheitsmann Tom Metcalf ist. Dieser gibt vor Carisi zu, sich des Öfteren für jemand anderen auszugeben, um Frauen dazu zu bewegen, mit ihm zu schlafen. Das Verfahren gegen ihn gestaltet sich schwierig, da es für den vorliegenden Tatbestand kein Gesetz im New Yorker Strafrecht gibt. Barba und Benson nehmen sich der Sache trotzdem an, stoßen dabei jedoch auf einige behördliche Hindernisse.

Hoch hinaus

Jenna Miller wird schwerverletzt in die Notaufnahme eingeliefert. Eine Krankenschwester verständigt nach einer Untersuchung die Special Victims Unit, weil die Verletzungen auf eine Vergewaltigung hindeuten. Jenna bestätigt den Beamten den Verdacht, will aber nicht vor Gericht gehen, damit die Angelegenheit nicht publik wird. Jenna ist Weltrekordhalterin im Stabhochsprung und möchte vor den Olympischen Spielen in Tokio vermeiden, dass ihr die Sponsoren abspringen. Rollins hat derweil ihre Schwester Kim bei sich zu Hause untergebracht. Kim wurde auf Bewährung aus dem Gefängnis entlassen und versucht nun, wieder auf die Beine zu kommen – was sich auf Grund der kürzlich gestellten psychischen Diagnose als schwierig gestaltet.

Ohnmächtig

Ellis Griffin, einem erfolgreichen, netten jungen Mann wird vorgeworfen, die betrunkene Janie von einer Party weggeschleppt und im Park vergewaltigt zu haben. Er behauptet, dass es sich um einvernehmlichen Sex gehandelt habe. Ein Zeuge will jedoch gesehen haben, dass Janie während der Tat bewusstlos war. Befragungen unter den Partygästen führen zu den unterschiedlichsten Aussagen und zeichnen kein klares Bild der Tatnacht. Ellis’ Vater Patrick ist ebenfalls ein Cop und war zudem Bensons erster Partner. Während ihrer gemeinsamen Arbeit hat Patrick Benson einen Freundschaftsdienst erwiesen, den er jetzt zurückfordert.

Die transsexuelle Kunststudentin Eva wird in der öffentlichen Toilette eines Einkaufszentrums bewusstlos aufgefunden. Da sie mit einem Metallrohr verprügelt und vergewaltigt wurde, wird die Special Victims Unit eingeschaltet. Erste Ermittlungen ergeben, dass Eva auf einer Party in einem Club den aufstrebenden schwarzen Rapper Hype geohrfeigt hat. Dieser leugnet zunächst, das Opfer überhaupt gekannt zu haben, was durch Hypes Produzenten Cash schnell als Lüge widerlegt werden kann. Als Hypes DNS unter den Fingernägeln des Opfers gefunden wird, wird der Rapper zum dringendsten Verdächtigen.

Aus nächster Nähe

Die attraktive und viel umworbene junge Frau Quinn wird beim Aufsperren ihrer Wohnungstür von einem Unbekannten überwältigt und in ihrer Wohnung vergewaltigt. Bei ihrer Aussage liefert das verstörte Opfer des Detectives der Special Victims Unit direkt einen Verdächtigen. Quinn wurde vor Jahren von einem Ray Wilson gestalkt und überfallen, eine Vergewaltigung konnte das Opfer in letzter Sekunde noch abwenden. Wilson saß für seine Tat vier Jahre im Gefängnis, wurde aber vor kurzem auf Bewährung aus der Haft entlassen. Als sich allerdings herausstellt, dass Wilson ein wasserdichtes Alibi hat, tappen die Ermittler erneut im Dunkeln. Erst der Fund eines Zigarettenstummels vor der Wohnung des Opfers führt die Detectives auf eine heiße Spur.

Nach einer ausschweifenden Party muss Nadine feststellen, dass ihr Sohn Theo im Laufe der Feierlichkeiten verschwunden ist. Nadine ist nicht gerade für ihre Vorbildlichkeit als Mutter bekannt. Neben ihrer Ehefrau Fran kümmert sich hauptsächlich die Nanny Gloria um Theo. Die Detectives der Special Victims Unit nehmen die Ermittlungen auf. Da Nadine sich unsicher ist, ob einer ihrer Gäste den Sohn entführt haben könnte, nehmen die Ermittler die Gästeliste unter die Lupe. Dabei fällt etwas Merkwürdiges auf: Einer der Partygäste war beruflich auf der Feier – als Privatdetektiv. Als sich herausstellt, dass Fran ihn engagiert hat, kommen Benson und Co langsam der Wahrheit auf die Spur.

Alpha-Tier

Die junge Sarah macht vor den Detectives der Special Victims Unit eine verwirrende Aussage. Nach einem Bartender-Job bei der 75. Geburtstagsparty des Milliardärs Lawrence Hendricks ist die junge Frau sich unsicher, ob sie in der Nacht vergewaltigt wurde. Ihr fehlen jegliche Erinnerungen, außer der Tatsache, dass sie Kontakt zu einem jüngeren Mann hatte. Eine körperliche Untersuchung bestätigt, dass Sarah vergewaltigt wurde. Ferner wird festgestellt, dass sie mit zwei verschiedenen Männern sexuellen Kontakt hatte und unter Drogen gesetzt wurde, was ihre Erinnerungslücken erklärt. Der jüngere Mann kann schnell als Eric Hendricks identifiziert werden. Dieser gibt direkt zu, einvernehmlichen Sex mit Sarah gehabt zu haben, was diese schließlich bestätigen kann. Als sich herausstellt, dass die zweite Spermaprobe Lawrence Hendricks zugeordnet werden kann, gilt es, ihn seiner Tat zu überführen.

Mutter und Sohn

Luke Keller, der 15-jährige Sohn der Psychiaterin Nicole Keller, hätte bei seinem Vater übernachten sollen. Nach einem Streit mit diesem kommt er jedoch unerwartet nach Hause. Als er Geräusche aus der Küche hört, denkt er, es sei ein Einbrecher im Haus. Er holt sein Jagdgewehr und sieht nach dem Rechten. Dort entdeckt er seine Mutter und einen Mann, den er nicht erkennt, beim Geschlechtsverkehr. Nicole sieht Luke und schreit ‚Hilfe, er vergewaltigt mich‘. Luke drückt daraufhin auf den Abzug und verletzt den Mann hinter Nicole tödlich. Dann erst wird ihm klar, dass er seinen besten Freund Trey Franklin erschossen hat. Nicole erzählt der Polizei die Geschichte so, wie Luke sie erlebt hat. Später stellt sich jedoch eine ganz andere Wahrheit heraus.

Das Recht des Stärkeren

Der junge Jack ist schuld, dass die Whitecaps, ein Eishockeyteam von 13-jährigen Jungen, ein Spiel verloren haben. Nachdem er aus der Umkleide gekommen ist, bricht er auf dem Parkdeck zusammen. Es stellt sich heraus, dass er mit einem Eishockeyschläger misshandelt worden ist. Als Benson und Carisi ihn im Krankenhaus befragen, gibt er an, sich an nichts zu erinnern. Nach der Befragung einiger Teammitglieder ist klar, dass zwei von ihnen Jack festgehalten haben. Kyle, der Star der Mannschaft und Jacks bester Freund, hat ihn anschließend mit dem Schläger sexuell misshandelt. Jack sagt, er habe Kyle nicht wiedererkannt, er sei völlig außer sich gewesen. Als Kyle wegen sexueller Misshandlung verhaftet werden soll, wird er jedoch zunächst wegen eines Armbruchs im Krankenhaus behandelt. Der behandelnde Arzt legt den Verdacht nahe, dass Kyle ebenfalls misshandelt wurde.

Captain Beth Williams, die erste Frau mit erfolgreich abgeschlossener Ranger-Ausbildung, wird am Morgen nach einer Party niedergeschlagen und vergewaltigt. Sie gibt an, sich nicht zu erinnern und ist auch nicht bereit, mit Lieutenant Benson und den Ermittlern der Special Victims Unit zusammenzuarbeiten. Nach einer Untersuchung finden sich Spuren von fremdem Blut an ihrem Körper, dass einem Mann namens José zugeordnet werden kann, der ein Vorstrafenregister wegen Körperverletzung hat. José erklärt der Polizei, dass er in einem Fight Club gegen Beth gekämpft und verloren hat, was auch das Geld erklärt, das Beth bei sich hatte, als sie gefunden wurde. Die Ermittlungen verkomplizieren sich weiter, als Beth ihre Aussage zurückzieht und die Vergewaltigung leugnet.

Familiensache

Jessica Walcott wird vor ihrer Bar überfallen und in ihrem Wagen brutal vergewaltigt. Sie vermutet, dass Rodney, ein Stammgast, der ihr ständig Avancen macht, der Täter ist. DNS-Spuren führen die Beamten der Special Victims Unit jedoch zu Nick Brown, der die Tat überraschenderweise sofort gesteht. Sein Geständnis lässt die Ermittler stutzen. Er habe Jessica vergewaltigt, weil er nicht anders konnte – sein Vater habe ihm das Vergewaltigungs-Gen vererbt. Nick Brown bietet Staatsanwalt Barba sofort einen Deal an. Er werde Informationen über den berüchtigten River Rapist liefern, wenn Barba ihm beim Strafmaß entgegenkommt.

Aalglatt

Während einer Feier eines erfolgreichen Geschäftsabschlusses wird Zoe White, eine junge Angestellte der Investment-Bank Cromwell Moore, von Eli Colton, dem wichtigsten Kunden der Bank, vergewaltigt. Als sie ihrem Vorgesetzten Roger Littrell davon erzählt, wird ihr geraten, sich lieber nicht mit dem „König der Wallstreet“ anzulegen. Benson und das SVU-Team nehmen sich des Falles trotzdem an und stoßen relativ schnell auf Widerstände gegen die Ermittlungen. Littrell scheint Coltons Attacken gegen seine Angestellten zu tolerieren und sogar zu verschleiern, darüber hinaus behauptet Eli Colton, dass der Sex mit Zoe einvernehmlich gewesen sei. Als die Beweislage gegen ihn endlich solide genug ist, zieht plötzlich die Hauptbelastungszeugin ihre Anzeige zurück.

Bestgehütet

Die Special Victims Unit bündelt ihre Kräfte mit der Mordkommission, um dem Serienvergewaltiger und Mörder das Handwerk zu legen, der innerhalb eines Monats schon drei Opfer gefordert hat. Die Opfer wurden erwürgt, gefesselt und mit am Nacken abrasierten Haaren gefunden, die der Täter offensichtlich als Trophäe mitnimmt. Nachdem ein weiteres Opfer gefunden wird, sind die Ermittler dem Killer dicht auf der Spur und können ihn schließlich schnappen. Der mutmaßliche Täter gibt seine Taten direkt zu, einzig bei dem letzten Opfer kommen Benson Zweifel. Sie vermutet, dass ein Trittbrettfahrer das Tatmuster des Second Avenue-Würgers imitiert.

Der Skorpion

Die Nachrichtenmoderatorin Heidi Sorenson bezichtigt ihren Chef Harold Coyle Monate der Vergewaltigung. Da sie ihren Job nicht verlieren wollte, hatte sie sich nur ihrer Kollegin Margery anvertraut. Als Heidi jedoch durch diese ersetzt wird und ihren Job verliert, hat sie nichts mehr zu verlieren und beschließt, den Vorfall anzuzeigen. Die Special Victims Unit geht der Sache nach und stößt schon bald auf einige Hindernisse seitens des Senders. Nach und nach stellt sich heraus, dass Coyle über Jahre ungestraft Mitarbeiterinnen sexuell belästigt hat, die Vorfälle jedoch nie zu Anzeige gebracht wurden. Letztlich wird Margery, die zunächst mit Coyle unter einer Decke zu stecken scheint, zur Schlüsselfigur, um Coyle endlich hinter Gitter zu bringen.

Fake News

Der Abgeordnete Bolton wird von der Website „Endless Truth“ beschuldigt, Sex mit Minderjährigen zu haben, die im Keller des Restaurants „Coral Dragon“ gefangen gehalten und zur Prostitution gezwungen werden. Bolton wendet sich nun and die SVU und bittet Benson und ihr Team, die Vorwürfe zu widerlegen. Nach anfänglichen Ermittlungen stellt sich heraus, dass die Beschuldigungen gegen den Abgeordneten keine Beweisgrundlage haben und somit als Verleumdung zählen. Der Betreiber von „Endless Truth“ hält jedoch an seinen Vorwürfen fest und beschuldigt darüber hinaus die Ermittler der SVU, ebenfalls Teil des Komplotts zu sein – nicht ahnend, dass seine haltlosen Vorwürfe dramatische Konsequenzen haben werden.

Im Bann

Abby Clarke ist experimentierfreudig und will die Herausforderungen des Lebens annehmen – ganz im Gegensatz zu ihrem Freund Steven, der Ihr davon abrät an einer Sitzung des Gurus Declan Trask teilzunehmen, der seine Klienten mithilfe der sinneserweiternden Droge Ayahuasca zu einer „Selbstreinigung“ verhilft. Schon am nächsten Tag bereut Abby ihr Abenteuer. Vor den Ermittlern der Special Victims Unit sagt sie aus, Trask habe sie unter Drogen gesetzt und anschließend vergewaltigt. Als ihre Aussage jedoch durch die Untersuchungen nicht bestätigt werden kann und Trask beteuert, dass der Sex einvernehmlich war, zweifeln die Detectives an Abbys Geschichte – bis sie auf ein zweites Opfer des Gurus stoßen.

Bekehrung

Die strenggläubige Ann ist Angehörige einer Kirche, die Homosexualität als Sünde betrachtet. Trotz ihres Glaubens lässt sie sich auf ein Treffen mit ihrer Kindheitsfreundin Lydia ein, zu der sie sich hingezogen fühlt. Als Lydia zu einem Treffen in Anns Hotelzimmer kommt, berichtet diese verstört, dass sie nicht einvernehmlichen Sex mit Lucas, einem Mitglied ihrer Kirchengruppe hatte. Die Ermittler der Special Victims Unit können den Verdächtigen schnell als Täter bestätigen – denn dieser gibt die Tat offen zu. Er behauptet jedoch, der Reverend seiner und Anns Kirche und Gott selbst hätten die Tat von ihm verlangt, um Ann von der „Krankheit“ der Homosexualität zu befreien. Ann – hin- und hergerissen zwischen ihrem Glauben und ihren Gefühlen für Lydia – ist plötzlich unsicher, ob sie die Tat weiter verfolgen soll.

Ein amerikanischer Traum

Die syrische Einwandererfamilie Samra wird in ihrem Restaurant von drei Männern in Skimasken überfallen. Die beiden Töchter, Shala und Lela, werden vergewaltigt. Shala wird anschließend umgebracht und der Vater erliegt im Krankenhaus seinen Verletzungen. Schmierereien im Restaurant lassen darauf schließen, dass es sich bei der Tat um ein Hassverbrechen aus rassistischen Gründen gehandelt hat. Maya Samra sagt aus, dass neben den zwei Vergewaltigern noch ein dritter Täter anwesend war. Yusef, Bruder von Maya, kann diesen schließlich als den illegal eingewanderten Mexikaner Hector identifizieren. Doch bevor Yusef die ausschlaggebende Aussage machen kann, wird er von der Einwanderungsbehörde festgenommen.

Letzte Bastion

Der Samra-Fall hält das Team der Special Victims Unit noch immer auf Trab. Da Yusef als einziger Zeuge nach Syrien abgeschoben wurde, ist Hector Ramirez die letzte Chance für Staatsanwalt Barba, um die Vergewaltiger und Mörder von Shala Samra und ihrem Vater hinter Gitter zu bringen. Dazu üben Benson und Barba Druck auf Soledad, die Frau von Hector Ramirez, aus, indem sie ihr mit der Einwanderungsbehörde drohen. Daraufhin lässt Soledad Hectors Alibi platzen und Hector packt endlich aus. Nach seiner Aussage vor der Grand Jury wird Anklage gegen Mitch Jenkins und Stevie Cole erhoben, die Lela und Shala Samra vergewaltigt und Shala und Kanann Samra ermordet haben. Der Fall scheint gelöst – bis ein brutaler Zwischenfall nach der Anklageerhebung erneut für Unruhe sorgt.

Innerhalb der New Yorker Polizei gibt es eine Sondereinheit, die Special Victims Unit. Die Fälle, die das SVU untersucht, beschränken sich ausschließlich auf Sexualdelikte und Verbrechen an Kindern

Ein dicker Fisch

Olivia kann Noah in letzter Sekunde davor bewahren, von einem Auto angefahren zu werden. Ihre schnelle und zupackende Reaktion setzt eine Kette von Ereignissen in Gang, die für die Ermittlerin schwerwiegende persönliche Konsequenzen haben werden. Währenddessen macht Fin Tutuola Urlaub auf Havana und spürt dort Byron Marks auf, einen der brutalsten Vergewaltiger, mit denen es die SVU-Ermittler jemals zu tun hatten. Tatsächlich gelingt es Fin, den Mann festzunehmen. Der Detective sieht sich bei seiner Rückkehr allerdings dem Vorwurf des Kidnappings ausgesetzt, zumal sich die Opfer von Marks, der inzwischen verheiratet ist, fast alle weigern, vor Gericht gegen ihn auszusagen.

Märchenprinz

Eine junge Frau erscheint im Dezernat und berichtet von ihrer Vergewaltigung. Während Benson ihr glaubt, wachsen bei Rollins und Carisi die Zweifel. Erst als eine ältere Dame von ihren eigenen furchtbaren Erlebnissen berichtet und der Modus Operandi des Täters praktisch übereinstimmt, wird allen im SVU-Team klar, dass sie es mit einem gefährlichen Serienvergewaltiger zu tun haben. Brian Cassidy ermittelt weiter in Olivias Privatleben, nachdem gegen die Ermittlerin Vorwürfe der Kindesmisshandlung laut geworden sind. Benson entschließt sich, selbst die Initiative zu ergreifen und stößt auf die unglaubliche Wahrheit, die hinter den Behauptungen steckt.

Contrapasso

Ein Mann wird in einem New Yorker Hotelzimmer brutal kastriert, überlebt aber den Angriff. Tatsächlich können die Ermittler schon bald drei Zeuginnen finden, die allesamt selbst unter Verdacht geraten, mit dem Angriff etwas zu tun zu haben. Tatsächlich scheinen die Frauen kein Problem damit zu haben, dies auch zuzugeben, schließlich hätten sie sich an ihrem Opfer nur für all das gerächt, was er ihnen einst angetan hat. Olivia erhält eine schockierende Mitteilung über ihren Sohn Noah. Scheinbar hat dessen leibliche Mutter Ellie Porter ein wichtiges Detail bezüglich ihrer Familie stets geheimgehalten.

Bloßgestellt

Eine Schülerin verschwindet spurlos und das SVU-Team ermittelt an der Highschool des Mädchens. Schon bald stellt sich heraus, dass die junge Frau Opfer einer Cyber-Mobbing-Attacke geworden ist, an der auch ihre beste Freundin beteiligt war. Mehr noch: Als die Ermittler sie aufspüren, behauptet die Schülerin, von drei ihrer Klassenkameraden vergewaltigt worden zu sein. Als die Mobbing-Angriffe gegen das Opfer nicht aufhören, gerät ihre Absicht, vor Gericht auszusagen, ins Wanken. Unterdessen weiht Olivia Rollins in ihre Sorgen um Noah ein. Sheila Porter, Noahs leibliche Großmutter, macht ihre Ansprüche geltend und der SVU-Ermittlerin damit die Vormundschaft streitig. Eine gerichtliche Auseinandersetzung scheint unausweichbar.

Nach zehn Jahren taucht ein vermisstes Mädchen als junge Frau wieder auf. Ihre Eltern sind überglücklich und auch die Medien überschlagen sich mit Berichten über den sensationellen Fall. Die Beamten vom Special Victims Unit ermittelten damals, was aber dazu führt, dass sich bei Lieutenant Benson erste Zweifel einstellen, als manche Details der Überlebenden nicht mit den Vorgängen von damals übereinzustimmen scheinen. Zeitgleich zerrt der Rechtsstreit um das Sorgerecht für Noah an Olivias Nerven. Sheila Porter behauptet vor Gericht, um die Sicherheit des Kindes besorgt zu sein, zumal vor kurzem Missbrauchsvorwürfe gegen Benson laut geworden seien.

Ein sicherer Hafen und ein Prestige-Projekt – so preist sich eine Enzugsklinik an, die ihre Dienste hauptsächlich bei Besserverdienern anpreist. Doch nachdem eine junge Patientin der Klinik tot aufgefunden wird, wächst im SVU-Team die Befürchtung, dass sich hinter der schillernden Fassade so mancher Abgrund auftut. Dies bestätigt sich, als Rollins als Mitarbeiterin undercover ermittelt. In ihrer Rolle als Assistentin der Managerin stößt sie auf ein ausgeklügeltes System, das seine Opfer nicht nur missbraucht, sondern auch reichlich Geld in die Kassen der Klinik spült. Zeitgleich versucht Olivia, ihr Misstrauen gegenüber Sheila einzudämmen und erlaubt der Großmutter zum ersten Mal, ihren Enkel zu besuchen.

Stellvertreter

Ein Vergewaltigungsofer taucht beim Special Victims Unit auf. Die völlig verstörte Frau kann sich an die Details dessen, was ihr zugestoßen ist, nicht erinnern. Die Vernehmung durch Lieutenant Benson gerät zu einem düsteren Zweitanz, in dem beide Frauen versuchen, der Wahrheit auf die Spur zu kommen. Doch schon bald gerät die Konfrontation aus dem Gleichgewicht und Benson versucht, mit einem Geständnis aus ihrer eigenen Vergangenheit wieder Oberhand zu gewinnen – ein riskantes Manöver, das die Ermittlerin aber auf die Spur eines anderen Gehimnisses bringt, in das auch die Schwester der Frau verwickelt ist.

Ausgespielt

Vergewaltigung auf Bestellung? So lautet zumindest der Vorwurf eines Boxers gegen jene Frau, die er angeblich vergewaltigt haben soll. Tatsächlich besitzt der Mann eine ganze Reihe von Online-Nachrichten, in denen die Frau das gewalttätige sexuelle Aufeinandertreffen detailliert beschrieben haben soll. Die SVU-Ermittler müssen feststellen, dass der Mann und sein Opfer nur Schachfiguren im perfiden Plan einer vom Leben entrückten Frau sind. Als Noah Olivia nach seiner leiblichen Mutter fragt, läuten bei ihr sämtliche Alarmglocken. Daraufhin versucht sie, klare Grundregeln für Sheila Porter im Umgang mit ihrem Enkel aufzustellen. Zunächst scheint sie damit Erfolg zu haben, doch dann brechen Ereignisse über Olivia herein, vor denen sie sich bereits seit langer Zeit gefürchtet hat.

Den Beamten des SVU gelingt es, schnell jenen Mann ausfindig zu machen, der Noah in seine Gewalt gebracht hat, doch er ist lediglich ein Bindeglied zu dem, was tatsächlich hinter dem Fall steckt. Benson, die durch Chief Dobbs von dem Fall abgezogen wird, beginnt auf eigene Faust zu ermitteln. In einer abgelegenen Waldhütte kommt es schließlich zu einer schicksalhaften Konfrontation.

Benson und ihr Team befragen den Boss und Mitarbeiter der Fluglinie und dringen damit in eine von Männern beherrschte Domäne ein. Nur den in diesem Fall verantwortlichen Kapitän hinter Gittern zu bringen ist nicht genug für Staatsanwalt Barba, der eine Grand Jury einberuft, um die gesamte Fluglinie zur Verantwortung zu ziehen. Unterdessen hat Fin Tutuola ein wachsames Auge auf Chief Dodds und beschützt damit Olivia, die noch immer dabei ist, sich von den dramatischen Ereignissen um ihren Sohn Noah zu erholen.

Barba trifft eine schicksalhafte Entscheidung, die Oberstaatsanwalt Jack McCoy auf den Plan ruft und die nicht nur seine Karriere, sondern auch seine Freiheit in Gefahr bringt.

Es kommt zu einem dramatischen Konfrontation zwischen Stone und Eli im Zeugenstand.

Nach der Todesnachricht wartet ein weiterer Schock auf die Angehörigen des Opfers: dem Leichnahm wurde ohne ihre Zustimmung die Organe entnommen.

Eine Teenagerin verschwindet spurlos nach einer Party, auf der sie mit einem Mann in einer Clown-Maske geflirtet hat. Zwar wird gegen den Hauptverdächtigen schon bald Anklage erhoben, doch ohne die Leiche des Mädchens steht Staatsanwalt Stone ein schwieriges Verfahren bevor. Tatsächlich lenkt ein weiterer Hinweis die Aufmerksamkeit der Beamten in eine ganz neue Richtung. Zeitgleich erfährt Benson von Stone, dass er auch nach New York gezogen ist um sich um seine an Schizophrenie leidende Schwester kümmern zu können.

Die SVU-Beamten untersuchen die Vergewaltigung einer Edel-Prostituierten und vor allem Detective Rollins nimmt der Fall gehörig mit. Ihr unprofessionelles Verhalten schockiert vor allem Carisi. Die Spur führt Lieutenant Benson schließlich auf eine Militär-Basis und zu drei Soldaten, die gemeinsam an dem Verbrechen beteiligt waren. Der Jüngste der Gruppe nimmt die Schuld zunächst auf sich, doch für die Ermittler ist klar, dass er lediglich seinen Vorgesetzten schützen will. Ein anderer Soldat fürchtet sich davor, im Zeugenstand als Transgender geoutet zu werden und dass die erst vor kurzem in den USA erlassene Regelung seine Karriere beenden könnte.

Die SVU-Beamten untersuchen das Verschwinden einer Mutter und ihrer Tochter. Schon bald müssen sie feststellen, dass ihr reicher Ehemann sie geschlagen und terrorisiert hat. Die weiteren Ermittlungen führen Olivia zu einem ungeahnten, illegal operierenden Netzwerk gezeichneter Frauen und zu Alexandra Cabot, die früher als Staatsanwältin die SVU-Fälle verhandelt hat. Es ist ein Wiedersehen unter Umständen, die dramatischer kaum sein könnten. Olivia erkennt ihre alte Freundin fast nicht wieder.

Gleichzeitig realisieren die Ermittler, dass der Bruder der Vormund seiner Schwester ist, solange deren Mutter im Gefängnis sitzt. Vor Gericht offenbart sich schließlich das ganze Ausmaß einer Familientragödie.

Eine alte Dame, die an Alzheimer erkrankt ist, behauptet vergewaltigt worden zu sein. Die SVU-Ermittler nehmen ihr Umfeld unter die Lupe, vor allem die Pfleger in ihrem Altersheim. Eine weitere Spur führt zu einem Mann, mit dem die einstige Konditorin ein Verhältnis hatte. Zeitgleich sorgt sich Lieutenant Benson darum, ob die Aussage des Opfers aufgrund ihrer Erkrankung vor Gericht überhaupt eine Chance haben würde. Der Fall hat erst größere Aussicht auf Erfolg, als sich weitere Opfer melden. Underdessen findet Tutuola heraus, dass er die Prüfung zum Sergeant bestanden hat. Die Beförderung könnte für ihn aber auch den Abschied von seinem langjährigen Team bedeuten.

Nach einem Abend in einem Club begleitet das Kindermädchen Lourdes ihren charmanten Verehrer Miguel Lopez nach Hause. In seinem luxuriösen Apartment angekommen, überwältigt sie Miguel per Waffengewalt und nimmt ihn als Geisel. Was sie nicht weiß: die Vorgänge in der Wohnung werden per Webcam online übertragen und auch die SVU-Ermittler erhalten davon Kenntnis. Lourdes wirft Miguel vor, sie einst von Mexiko aus über die Grenze in die USA geschmuggelt zu haben. Dabei habe er zwei ihrer Begleiterinnen getötet und sie mehrfach brutal vergewaltigt. Lieutenant Benson steht Lourdes schon bald Auge in Auge gegenüber und gerät damit in eine moralische Zwickmühle: obwohl sie Lourdes glaubt, muss sie alles daran setzen um das Leben ihres Peinigers zu retten.

Lourdes wird festgenommen und Olivia Benson ist nach wie vor von Miguels Schuld überzeugt. Doch es gibt keine Beweise dafür, dass der vermeintlich harmlose Programmierer Verbindungen zu mexikanischen Schmuggler-Kartellen hat. Ohne solche Beweise kann Staatsanwalt Stone nicht gegen Miguel vorgehen, was sein ohnehin angeschlagenes, berufliches Verhältnis zu Benson weiter belastet. Der Jugendliche weigert sich seinen Angreifer zu nennen, doch der Verdacht der Beamten fällt schnell auf die anderen Mitglieder der Familie Conway. Vor allem Carisi sieht in Sams Vater den Schuldigen. Rollins muss ihren Kollegen ihr auffälliges Verhalten erklären. Zeitgleich versucht sie mit den Avancen ihres untreuen Ex-Freundes Al Pollack umzugehen, der schwört sich geändert zu haben. Nach zwei abgebrochenen Verfolgungsjagden befürchtet Benson, nicht länger die nötige Fitness für ihren Job zu haben.

Vor Gericht versucht Staatsanwalt Peter Stone Sams Vater als Mörder anzuklagen, auch wenn er weiß, dass der Fall auf wackeligen Füßen steht. Zeitgleich fragt sich Rollins, ob sie wirklich die Stärke hat, noch ein weiteres Kind großzuziehen.

Die SVU-Beamten lassen bei einem Undercover-Einsatz einen Menschenhändler hochgehen, der Freiern minderjährige Mädchen anbietet. Dabei befreien Lt. Benson und ihr Team auch die neunjährige Gabriella Sosa. Schnell stellt sich heraus, dass Gabriella an der Grenze zu Mexiko von ihrer Mutter getrennt worden ist – ein Resultat der Null Toleranz-Politik der US-Regierung. Olivia greift zu einem verzweifelten Schritt um Gabrielle vor einem weiteren Zugriff der Einwanderungsbehörde zu schützen.

Schon bald gerät der Ex-Mann des Opfers ins Visier der Ermittler, die beiden verband eine gewalttätige Vergangenheit. Eine andere Spür führt allerdings zum charismatischen Anführer der Bewegung, hinter dessen Charme sich einige Abgründe auftun. Zeitgleich versucht Rollins ihre Schwangerschaft unter der Decke zu halten, um so dem Dienst am Schreibtisch zu entkommen. Fin und Carisi fragen sich dagegen eher, wer denn nun der Vater des Kindes ist.

Eine junge, obdachlose Frau wird vergewaltigt. Bei der Vernehmung stellen die Beamten fest, dass sie es mit einem Opfer zu tun haben, das unter einer gespaltenen Persönlichkeit leidet. Als die Frau spurlos verschwindet, müssen die Beamten schnellstmöglich ihre wahre Identität in Erfahrung bringen – zumal ihre Vergangenheit den Schlüssel zur Aufklärung des Falls bereithalten könnte.

Mit Stichwunden und Blut übersäht, wanderte verwirrt durch die Gegend. Die Ermittlungen bringen Olivia und ihr Team an ihre emotionalen Grenzen und die Identifizierung des Täters wird für die Beamten zu einem großen Schock.

Benson kämpft mit dem zunehmend schwierigen Verhalten ihres Sohnes. Auf der VIP-Party eines beliebten Restaurants wird eine Frau sexuell misshandelt. Schon bald stellt sich heraus, dass es sich hierbei nicht um das einzige Opfer handelt. Scheinbar haben es die SVU-Beamten mit einem Serienvergewaltiger zu tun, der bereits seiner Schulzeit aktiv ist. Die Spur führt ausgerechnet zu einem Stellvertretenden Staatsanwalt, der sich in der Öffentlichkeit stets für Frauenrechte stark gemacht hatte.

Stone besteht allerdings darauf, dass es den Vorfall nie gegeben habe. Zeitgleich tun die SVU-Beamten ihr Möglichstes, um den Party-Vergewaltiger zur Rechenschaft zu ziehen. Doch der Beschuldigte einen gewieften Strafverteidiger auf seiner Seite. Pollack macht Rollins einen Vorschlag, der in ihr gemischte Gefühle auslöst.

Die ältere Tochter behauptet, ihn aus Rache für die sexuellen Übergriffe auf ihre Schwester umgebracht zu haben. Als die Ermittler aber eine besondere Beziehung zwischen der jüngeren Schwester und ihrem Nachbarn aufdecken, wachsen bei ihnen die Zweifel.

Stone erhebt Anklage gegen eine Frau, die ihren Ehemann umgebracht haben soll. Die Frau behauptet, dass der Polizist sie regelmäßig geschlagen und vergewaltigt hat. Finn tut sich für die Ermittlungen mit einem ehemaligen Kollegen aus der Vice Squad zusammen. Die Spur führt sie schließlich zu einem Ring von Menschenhändlern, die eine ganz persönliche Verbindung zum Special Victims Unit haben könnten.

Ein junger Mann, der als Kind missbraucht worden ist, begeht Selbstmord. Die SVU-Beamten nehmen die Ermittlungen auf und versuchen seinen Vergewaltiger zu stellen. Eine Spur führt zu einem Fußballverein, in dem auch Bensons Ex-Freund Brian Cassidy als Kind Mitglied war und in dem auch er sexuellen Übergriffen ausgesetzt war. So bittet Olivia Brian um Mithilfe um den Täter zu stellen, der möglicherweise bereits seit Jahrzehnten aktiv ist.

Als Lieutenant Benson und ihr Team den Entführer schließlich aufspüren, beginnt die Arbeit ist, da er womöglich nicht nur eine falsche Identität, sondern auch eine Mutter vorzuweisen hat, die nicht die besten Absichten verfolgt.

Ausgerechnet auf einem Wohltätigskeitsball des NYPD wird die Strafverteidigerin Nikki Staines mit K.O.-Tropfen betäubt und vergewaltigt. Staines ist davon überzeugt, dass ihr Angreifer ein Polizist ist. Wie das SVU-Team kurz danach feststellen muss, ist die Tat womöglich nur die Spitze eines Eisbergs an Korruption und Vertuschung innerhalb des Police Departments.

Die Hochzeit eines Therapeuten wird jäh gestört, als eine Frau die Zeremonie unterbricht und behauptet von dem Mann vergewaltigt worden zu sein. Die SVU-Beamten sprechen mit mehreren Zeugen, die behaupten von der Frau in den sozialen Netzwerken belästigt und gestalkt worden zu sein. Zunächst wird die Glaubwürdigkeit des Opfers von diesen Aussagen untergraben, doch später stellt sich heraus, dass die Frau das Kind ihres vermeintlichen Vergewaltigers erwartet.

Eine italienische Austauschschülerin behauptet von einem Taxifahrer vergewaltigt worden zu sein. Tatsächlich gelingt es den SVU-Beamten recht schnell den Mann ausfindig zu machen. Doch dann taucht Videomaterial auf, das zeigt, wie die 15-Jährige Sex mit zwei älteren Männern hat. Dies ist allerdings nicht das einzige Geheimnis aus der Vergangenheit der Schülerin, welche die Ermittlungen zu Tage fördern.

Nach dem gewaltsamen Tod von George Floyd muss auch Benson ihr eigenes Handeln und das Handeln ihres Teams vollkommen neu bewerten und hinterfragen.

Befreiungsschlag

Ein Junge mit Verletzungen bringt die SVU-Beamten dazu, seine Familie unter die Lupe zu nehmen. Tatsächlich wird seine Mutter bewusstlos in ihrem Apartment vorgefunden. Alles deutet darauf hin, dass ihr Lebensgefährte die Familie misshandelt. Als dieser aber ermordet wird, erhalten die Ermittler ein Geständnis, mit dem für sie die Probleme überhaupt erst beginnen. Zeitgleich muss sich Fin den schwerwiegenden Folgen einer Schießerei stellen.

Endzeitstimmung

Captain Benson erhält einen Hilferuf von einem italienischen Kollegen. Ein Vater vermisst dort seine Tochter, die in New York studiert. Die SVU-Ermittler nehmen sich dem Fall an und machen eine schreckliche Entdeckung. Die junge Frau ist tot, bei lebendigem Leib erfroren in einem Tiefkühlschrank. Bei weiteren Ermittlungen kommt ein kompliziertes Beziehungsgeflecht zwischen WG-Genossen ans Tageslicht, die allesamt mit dem Corona-Lockdown vollkommen unterschiedlich umgegangen sind.

Auf ein Neues

Es ist Silvester und die SVU-Beamten sind nur zu froh, das Jahr 2020 endlich hinter sich lassen zu können. Tutuola plant, um die Hand seiner Freundin anzuhalten, wird aber von einem einem Notruf jäh unterbrochen. Ein Teenager ist verschwunden und die Spezialeinheit beginnt mit der Suche. Als schließlich feststeht, dass das Mädchen vermutlich vergewaltigt wurde, fasst ihr Vater einen folgenschweren Entschluss. Der Fall bringt Staatsanwalt Carisi auf direkten Konfrontationskurs mit seinem Vorgänger Rafael Barba.

Ein Pornostar wird während einer live übertragenen Cam Session vergewaltigt. Der Verdacht fällt schnell auf einen Zuschauer, der zugleich im gleichen Altersheim arbeitet, wo auch der Vater des Opfers untergebracht ist. Im Laufe der Ermittlungen steigert sich die Bessenheit des Täters noch, während auch die Situation zwischen Tamin und Carisi mehr als angespannt ist.

Ein einflussreicher Richter sorgt dafür, dass ein Vergewaltigungsfall nicht zur Verhandlung kommt. Zeitgleich bewirbt er sich um den Posten des Generalstaatsanwalts von New York. Carisi stellt fest, dass der Richter selbst schon als Sexualtäter in Erscheinung getreten ist. Doch seine Opfer fürchten den Einfluss des mächtigen Mannes.

Die frühere „Major Case“-Ermittlerin Carolyn Barek leitet inzwischen die Special Victims Unit in der Bronx. Als Captain Benson und ihr Team bei der Fahndung nach einem Serienvergewaltiger mit der Einheit zusammenarbeiten sollen, kommen allerlei angestaute Aggressionen an die Oberfläche. Der sich verändernde Modus Operandi des Täters verstärkt die Spannungen noch zusätzlich – bis eine überraschende Spur zum Täter an einem ungeahnten Ort führt.

Flucht nach vorn

Captain Benson muss sich um Noah kümmern, und so müssen sich die SVU-Beamten selbst um mehrere Fälle gleichzeitig kümmern. Amanda Rollins versucht zwei Schwestern zu helfen, die vor mittlerweile 20 Jahren Opfer eines furchtbaren Sexualverbrechens wurden. Die beiden erhoffen sich durch die Begegnung mit ihrem damaligen Peiniger Antworten und einen Abschluss. Doch die Begegnung im Gefängnis verläuft deutlich anders als geplant. Zeitgleich versucht Fin ein Opfer davor zu warnen, zugunsten ihres früheren Vergewaltigers bei einer Bewährungs-Verhandlung auszusagen. Der Ermittler ist davon überzeugt, dass der Mann lediglich für seinen eigenen Vorteil mit ihren Gefühlen spielt.

Ein Jahr lang hat eine Restaurant-Besitzerin in Manhattan angesichts der Pandemie um ihre Existenz gekämpft. Nach dem Tod ihrer Mutter soll sie nun auch das Lokal verlieren, in das sie ihr ganzes Herzblut gesteckt hat. In einer Kurzschlusshandlung nimmt sie den zuständigen Makler als Geisel. Captain Benson, die die Frau recht gut kennt, versucht zu vermitteln. Zeitgleich muss sich Rollins um ihren Vater kümmern, der erneut einen Schlaganfall erlitten hat – und ihre junge Stiefmutter auf Abstand halten.

Mehrere reiche Männer werden tot aufgefunden, nachdem sie eine verhängnisvolle Begegnung mit einem jungen Frauen-Trio hatten. Rollins ist begeistert, als Tommy Baker, ein MMA-Kämpfer aus ihrer Heimatstadt, an den Meisterschaften teilnimmt, aber als er nicht zum Kampf erscheint, spürt sie, dass etwas nicht stimmt. Bald darauf wird Tommy halb totgeprügelt und mit heruntergezogener Hose aufgefunden. Die Ermittlungen bringen schnell ans Licht, dass Tommy schwul ist. Er hatte vor, sich nach dem Kampf zu outen. Benson vermutet, dass das jemandem nicht gefallen hat.

Im Schatten der Ereignisse

Eine junge Frau wendet sich Hilfe suchend an Captain Benson. Während der ersten Begegnung mit ihrer leiblichen Mutter, erfuhr sie von dieser, dass sie als Teenagerin auf einer Party vergewaltigt worden war. Neun Monate später kam dann das Kind zur Welt, welches sie zur Adoption freigab. Benson und Rollins versuchen, dem damaligen Vergewaltiger auf die Spur zu kommen, während sich für Rollins und Carisi auch sehr akut die Frage nach dem weiteren Umgang mit ihrer Beziehung stellt.

Benson und Trevor Langan nehmen an einer Benefizveranstaltung teil. Ellen Kaplan, die mit ihrem Mann Mitch ebenfalls an der Veranstaltung teilnimmt, wird dort von dem Radiomoderator Bob Flynn angegriffen. Ellen erzählt ihrem Mann, dass sie betatscht wurde, und beide kommen zur SVU. Ellen will nicht, dass die Angelegenheit weiter verfolgt wird. Benson und die SVU beschließen jedoch, den Fall ohne offizielle Anzeige zu untersuchen.

Nach einer Dinnerparty, auf der Rollins zum ersten Mal Carisis Mutter trifft, bekommt Carisi einen Anruf von seiner Nichte Mia, die ihm erzählt, dass ihre Freundin Annabel vergewaltigt wurde. Nachdem der Vorfall offiziell gemeldet wurde, untersucht Benson einen Geheimbund des Colleges, dessen Mitglieder sich an Studentinnen vergreifen.

Velasco trifft sich mit einer Frau, die er über eine Dating-App kennengelernt hat und glaubt, bei ihr Anzeichen einer posttraumatischen Belastungsstörung zu erkennen. Sie berichtet, von ihrem Boss Jackson, dem Entwickler der Dating-App, vergewaltigt worden zu sein. Der streitet alles ab, doch dann tauchen weitere Frauen auf, die ähnliche Erfahrungen mit Jackson gemacht haben.

Detective Velasco wendet sich hilfesuchend an Captain Benson. Er geht davon aus, dass drei Mädchen aus seiner mexikanischen Heimatstadt Ciudad Juárez nach New York City verschleppt wurden. Er würde gern nach ihnen suchen, braucht dafür aber die Unterstützung seiner Vorgesetzten. Benson vertraut ihrem neuen Kollegen und erklärt sich bereit zu helfen. Das Team begibt sich sofort auf die Suche nach den Mädchen.

Detective Amanda Rollins und Sergeant Odafin Tutuola reisen nach Kentucky, um einen neuen Fall zu bearbeiten. Das Opfer wurde missbraucht und ermordet. Den Ermittlern fallen sofort die verblüffenden Ähnlichkeiten zu einem Opfer auf, das im Central Park in New York City entdeckt wurde. Es erscheint möglich, dass der gleiche Täter zugeschlagen hat. Während der Ermittlungen gelangt Benson an Informationen, die den Fall in ein neues Licht rücken.

Diese Nachricht schockiert die Ermittler ebenso, wie Elizabeths Eltern. Solange das Mädchen nicht kooperationsbereit ist, kann Bensons Team nichts unternehmen. Carisi hat einen Straftäter auf dem Silbertablett. Leider kann er ihn nicht vor Gericht stellen, weil der einzige Beweis eine Beichte ist. Der Pfarrer hätte davon eigentlich gar nichts erzählen dürfen, weil es dem Beichtgeheimnis unterliegt. Carisi muss einen anderen Weg finden, um dem Verbrecher die Tat nachzuweisen. Unterdessen trifft sich Benson mit einem alten Freund, der versuchen will, seine Fehler aus der Vergangenheit auszubügeln.

Captain Olivia Benson liegt der Fall eines langjährigen Opfers häuslicher Gewalt besonders am Herzen.
