Das „Riviera Grand“ von Santiago Mendoza (Demián Bichir) ist das letzte große Hotel in Familienbesitz im multikulturellen Miami Beach in Florida. Santiago ist in zweiter Ehe mit Gigi (Roselyn Sanchez) verheiratet. Die, und die mittlerweile erwachsenen Zwillingstöchter, die sie mit in die Ehe gebracht hat, verprassen den scheinbaren Wohlstand der Familie – während das Grand Hotel tatsächlich in finanzielle Schwierigkeiten absinkt, gegen die der Patriarch nur mit Mühe etwas tun kann. So plant Santiago den Verkauf des Hotels – sehr zum Ärger seiner eigenen Kinder Alicia und Javi: Die stammen aus Santiagos erster Ehe und das Hotel entstammt der Familie ihrer Mutter Beatriz. Entsprechend hatten die beiden erwartet, dass sie das Hotel dereinst auch als spirituelles Erbe weiterführen würden. Im Riviera Grand geht nicht alles mit rechten Dingen zu, und so manche Schandtat liegt im Dunkel der Geschichte verborgen. Das bekommt schnell auch Neuzugang Danny zu spüren, der sich dem Hotelpersonal angeschlossen und an Alicia Gefallen gefunden hat …
